MariaDB with phpMyAdmin
MariaDB 12.3.3 LTS from the official MariaDB repository with phpMyAdmin 5.2.3 on Ubuntu 24.04 LTS: a dedicated, MySQL-compatible database server for your applications. On first boot the InnoDB buffer pool, connection limit, temporary-table sizes and thread pool are sized from the instance's real memory and CPUs. Slow-query logging is on and binary logs are kept for point-in-time recovery. Applications connect on port 3306 with a separate admin account.

Getting started
From launch to signed in, step by step.
Subscribe on AWS Marketplace and launch in your region with TCP

http://<instance-public-ip>/phpmyadminwith usernamerootand your EC2 Instance ID, lowercase exactly as the console shows it (for examplei-0123456789abcdef0).Applications and remote clients use port
3306with usernameadminand the same Instance ID password, for examplemariadb -h <instance-public-ip> -P 3306 -u admin -p.rootworks only on the server itself and in phpMyAdmin.SSH as
ubuntuwith your key pair. Change passwords withsudo bash /home/ubuntu/iscripts/pass_mariadb.sh(root) orpass_mariadb_admin.sh. After changing the instance type, runsudo bash /home/ubuntu/iscripts/tune_mariadb.shto re-size the database.phpMyAdmin is plain HTTP: allow port

Security posture
What this image does and does not ship with, one fact per line.
Clean-room build on Canonical's official Ubuntu 24.04 LTS image: every component comes from its own official source, and nothing is copied from any third-party image.
MariaDB comes from the MariaDB Foundation's official repository and phpMyAdmin from its checksum-verified release tarball.
No credentials ship in the image: on first boot every instance sets its own root and admin passwords, phpMyAdmin secrets and server ID from EC2 instance metadata (IMDSv2). root can sign in only on the server itself; network clients use the separate admin account.
SSH is key-only, and build-time SSH keys, host keys, machine ID, shell history and logs were removed before imaging.
The bundled password tools enforce at least 10 characters with upper- and lower-case letters, a number and a symbol.
Open port 3306 only to the hosts that need it and restrict ports 22 and 80 to trusted IP ranges in your security group.
